BBL 2026-27: where to watch every game in Australia — free and paid
Every way to watch BBL|16 in Australia: which games are free on Channel 7 and 7plus, what needs Fox Cricket or Kayo, and the marquee fixtures worth circling.
BBL|16 runs from 12 December 2026 to 26 January 2027 — 44 matches across eight teams, ending with the final on Australia Day. If you're working out how to watch without overpaying, the split is simple: a big chunk is free, and the rest sits behind one paywall.
The free option: Channel 7 and 7plus
Seven broadcasts a free selection of BBL matches each season on Channel 7, with the same games streaming free on 7plus. Unlike AFL and NRL, there's no state-split puzzle here — Seven's free pick is the same game everywhere in Australia.
How much is actually free? In BBL|15, 34 of the 44 matches were on Seven and 7plus. The free selection skews toward the marquee nights — Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day and the derbies tend to make the cut.
The every-game option: Fox Cricket and Kayo
If you want all 44 games, it's Fox Cricket (via Foxtel) or Kayo Sports. That includes the ~10 games per season Seven doesn't take, plus every final. Cricket Australia's current broadcast deal with the Foxtel Group and Seven West Media runs through the 2030–31 summer, so this split isn't changing any time soon.
Marquee fixtures to circle
Sat 12 Dec — Melbourne Renegades v Perth Scorchers, Chennai. The season opener, and the first BBL match ever played outside Australia.
Thu 24 Dec — Melbourne Renegades v Hobart Hurricanes, Junction Oval. Christmas Eve cricket returns after four years.
Sat 26 Dec — Boxing Day double-header: Sixers v Heat at the SCG, Scorchers v Stars in Perth.
Thu 31 Dec — Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Stars, Adelaide Oval. The Strikers' annual New Year's Eve tradition.
Fri 1 Jan — New Year's Day double-header: Renegades v Sixers at the MCG, Heat v Hurricanes at the Gabba.
Tue 26 Jan — The Final, Australia Day. Venue confirmed after the league stage.
The two big rivalries — the Sydney Smash (Sixers v Thunder) and the Melbourne Derby (Stars v Renegades) — are both on the calendar twice.
